As explained in this post last week, the team at Western Power turned up the voltage on their awesome $50,000 Volunteer Bush Fire Service grants program with an extra $20,000 after we explained that we had received applications from more than 140 Brigades for equipment totalling more than half a million dollars.
That put us a little behind in terms of the distribution of the grants because we had to re-visit the applications and decisions made. We’ve also been working with some potential sponsors to try to get some help for the many Brigades that will miss out, despite the generous top-up provided by Western Power. Unfortunately, we haven’t yet shaken hands with another donor, but given the overwhelming need that is out there for small equipment grants, we will continue to work on the leads we have and keep you informed as things develop.
In the meantime, we are very pleased to confirm that recipients of 2018 Western Power Volunteer Bush Fire Service small grants will be notified next week and we will do our absolute best to share the good news stories that flow.
The Association of Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades (AVBFB) would like to thank everyone who submitted an application for your patience and understanding and on behalf of the many Brigades that clearly appreciate the chance to purchase much-needed equipment that they have otherwise not been able to fund, our partners Western Power.
