MORE than 4500 people attended a community expo showcasing volunteer organisations in Yanchep on Saturday.
Yanchep Central Shopping Centre hosted the February 8 event, which had a focus on emergency services.
Centre manager Nicola Johnstone said more than 4500 people came to the event throughout the day, with many queuing up for a car wash with Yanchep Volunteer Fire and Rescue.
Ms Johnstone said the free event improved awareness of services available in the community through various organisations, charities, clubs, groups and businesses.
“Many of those who participated this year rely heavily upon volunteers and donations,” she said.
“This year’s event included a special focus on the emergency services heroes.
“Yanchep Beach Estates – the owners of Yanchep Central Shopping Centre – donated one barbecue each to the two fire stations and SES in appreciation of all their hard work and dedicated efforts, especially during the recent local bushfire crisis.”
