  • Perth landmarks to be lit up orange to recognise their efforts

Western Australians are encouraged to wear orange tomorrow to celebrate the achievements of the State’s 2,000 State Emergency Service volunteers.

The McGowan Government will recognise the invaluable contribution of the SES who, during the devastating impacts of Tropical Cyclone Seroja, received more than 1,600 calls for help.

Throughout the year, SES volunteers drop everything and don their orange overalls to respond to storms, cyclones, floods, land searches, vertical rescues and car crashes.

Over the past year, volunteers have devoted more than 21,000 hours responding to 2,702 incidents throughout WA.

They play an instrumental role helping communities prepare for emergencies, as they did in the lead-up to Seroja, and provide vital support during major incidents such as the devastating Wooroloo bushfire.

This WOW Day several landmarks across WA will be lit up in orange including Matagarup Bridge, the Perth Bell Tower, Elizabeth Quay and Brookfield Place.
