This week, we share an interview with Phil Penny, a member of both Yarloop & Cookernup Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade(s) (VBFB) in the Shire of Harvey.
As well as sharing general insights from his 40 years of volunteering, Phil also talks about his experience as the Chief during the devastating Waroona-Yarloop fires that begun on the 6th of January, 2016 and what really went down behind the scenes.
Quick note: We apologise for the quality of the audio in this edition. We decided to go with the interview rather than try to re-record it when Phil was in a better phone reception area out of respect for his time and the value of hearing genuine interviews that haven’t been rehearsed. The good news is we think we have a great solution to get better audio quality for future phone-based interviews.
