The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has led to unprecedented action from governments all around the world in an attempt to slow its transmission and moderate the inevitable impact it will have on health services and front line personnel.
As the peak body for the women and men of Western Australia’s largest emergency service, Bushfire Volunteers has been working hard to stay abreast of the facts and how they might relate to the state’s 20,000+ members of Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades. Importantly, we have also been considering what we can do to ensure our members have what they need to continue to support and protect our community during this and any similar future situation.
Given the current advice from government is that volunteer brigade meetings should be cancelled until further notice, the association is consulting members to see how many currently have the ability to hold virtual meetings and seeking input on funding etc.
