The Volunteering WA State Conference is the primary forum in WA where leaders and practitioners come together to build knowledge, leadership and best practice in the volunteering sector.
The 2021 conference theme of ‘Diversity, Power and Purpose’ challenged delegates to leverage the diversity of the volunteering sector and harness its power to address some of the most significant issues faced by the community.
Bushfire Volunteers was privileged to have the opportunity to present at the conference about the importance of change and innovation in the volunteering sector.
The association highlighted that while volunteers are often considered subordinate to an entrenched process, being unpaid can also create an opportunity to deviate without penalty in risk averse environments.
Volunteers have freedom and choice that paid workers don’t, giving them an opportunity to take a different path, speak up and create meaningful change and innovation.
We also stressed the importance of organisations embracing the passion and wisdom of volunteers and providing platforms and opportunities for volunteers to explore, engage and drive innovation.
The association also spoke about our Emergency Services Volunteers App and the benefits it provides for members.
Bushfire Volunteers congratulates Volunteering WA for organising a premier event and providing the opportunity for the sector to come together.
We also acknowledge the support of event partners Woodside Energy, RAC WA, Beyond Bank, Lotterywest, Lush The Content Agency, Business Events Perth and PAV.
Thank you for helping us to lead, advance and celebrate volunteering in Western Australia.
