As locals in the east Gippsland region brace for horrific fire conditions, the local federal Member is calling on his Government to do more to support fire fighters.
Veterans Affairs Minister Darren Chester has welcomed news that some volunteer fire fighters will be offered financial support for loss of income.
But he’s told AM a long-term strategy is needed and not just a one-off payment.
