The following Question Without Notice was asked by the Hon Rick Mazza MLC and answered in Parliament today by the Hon Stephen Dawson MLC representing the Emergency Services Minister, Hon Fran Logan MLA.
DEPARTMENT OF FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES — ROSTER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Hon RICK MAZZA to the minister representing the Minister for Emergency Services:
I refer to the Department of Fire and Emergency Services recently publishing a tender calling for expressions of interest in developing a new personnel roster management system.
(1) Does the government have any plans to merge, amalgamate, rename or abolish any current volunteer emergency service?
(2) Why does the DFES tender for a personnel roster management system state that future changes to legislation will force local government bushfire volunteers to report directly to DFES?
Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1) No.
(2) The Department of Fire and Emergency Services has not engaged in a tender process for a personnel roster management system. The department has released, via Tenders WA, a request for information. The RFI does not state this.
