International Firefighters’ Day will not be marked by the usual all-service ceremony at Kings Park this year because of COVID-19.
However, Bushfire Volunteers President Dave Gossage AFSM and Secretary Treasurer Lorraine Webster have taken the time this morning to recognise the sacrifices firefighters of the past, present and future have made and continue to make to keep our community safe on behalf of Western Australia’s 20,000 registered Bush Fire Volunteers.
We silently note that volunteer and career firefighters alike dedicate their time and sadly, sometimes lives to the protection of life and the environment in our community.
On this date, the Bushfire Volunteers invite you to take the time to remember the past firefighters who dedicated their lives to protecting our community and show your appreciation to the firefighters who continue to do so today.
We take the time to recognise the sacrifices firefighters make and thank them for their service.
Below is the story of the Late Ronald ‘Macca’ McBride – father, husband, firefighter and one of many.
