The Emergency Services Minister has officially unveiled a new fire station for Cockburn that will serve the needs of the growing southern suburbs communities.

The fire station, located on North Lake Road, will be the new home for firefighters from Success Career Fire and Rescue Service who will now be known as Cockburn CFRS.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services closed the former Success Fire Station on Hammond Road as a precautionary measure due to possible environmental and health concerns.

The Cockburn Volunteer Emergency Services Complex has served as a temporary home for the career firefighters following their 2015 relocation.

Cockburn CFRS crews were involved in the design of the new fire station which has been future-proofed to cater for expansion of both personnel and appliances into the future.

Funded by the Emergency Services Levy, the $11 million purpose-built station features three vehicle bays, an indoor-outdoor gym, training area and a post-incident wash-down area.

The station’s central location with easy access to major arterial roads including Kwinana Freeway and North Lake Road will result in faster response times for the community.

“Cockburn Career Fire and Rescue Service firefighters had significant input into the design of the facility and I hope that moving into their new home will mark a new chapter for the crew.”
